  • 10 March 2019Reviewing in multiple sessions

A quick tip for smartphone users based on a question I received recently.

You can scroll the flashcard page to reveal the Pass/Fail counts, as well as the END button!

Click/tap the END button to end a review session. Any due cards that are left will show up when you start the review later that day. In other words, you don't have to review all the due pile in one sitting.

I realize this is not very obvious and maybe I'll get around to redesign the flashcard review layout on smartphone. The END button should probably go to the top row, and the "exit" button should probably disappear after reviewing one card. Until then I hope this little tip helps!

    Koohii Forums closing down

I've recently made the decision to close the Koohii Forums. I've explained my reasons in this post. Those "reasons" of course are just a long winded way of saying that I want to move on from running the forum. :)

    Long Live Kanji Koohii!

I'm still running Kanji Koohii and have no intentions to end this service anytime soon. With the forum closing down I wanted to trim down, to be able to focus. Most importantly to do things that are meaningful to me. I love Kanji Koohii. It's my little pet project. Sure, the code isn't as nice as I would like.. I have to maintain a web app that started 13+ years ago. But this is also an interesting challenge.

I've recently started a new job as a front end developer, so I expect that will motivate me to do more updates this year (right now, I'm trying to update the open source repo to use Docker).

    Discord?

A really interesting idea was suggested to me recently: set up a Discord for the Kanji Koohii community. I think this is an excellent idea. In theory the group's membership would be closer to the Kanji Koohii userbase. Additionally the Patreon could be set up to assign some roles based on Patreon tier.

I have to figure out how that would work in practice. I am closing the forums in order to focus, so it's important that managing the Discord would be relatively easy for me. On the plus side, it will provide another channel for discussion between Kanji Koohii users.

    Contact

While the forums are closing, you can always contact me for any website related questions or account related issues via the contact form.
